AE Live (AE), a leading provider of broadcast graphics solutions, has proudly delivered a new graphics look for the United Rugby Championship (URC).
Formerly known as the PRO14 Rugby league, the URC underwent a major rebrand during the summer with AE’s in-house creative agency, Ignite, developing a striking new broadcast graphics package for the start of the 2021/2022 season.
Ignite’s expert team of designers have created a fresh and modern look using elements from the wider rebrand. In addition to the contemporary feel, the package stands out from other rugby styles thanks to the NFL-style look which utilises the bottom centre of screens for in-play graphics.
Kelly Bendall, Ignite’s Creative Producer, commented, “Thisaway’s bold, fresh branding package was a pleasure to work with and certainly designed to make the all-new United Rugby Championship stand out in a crowded market. The centralised score tick is an innovative move in the world of rugby graphics, it captures the all-important second screen and is already paying dividends in the social media space.”
From the Ignite designs, AE’s team of in-house Vizrt artists and software developers created a graphics package to be used on broadcast by its full-time graphics operators. AE operators will be delivering the new graphics look at all games of the competition, which are to be played across Ireland, Scotland, Wales and South Africa.
Adam Redmond, URC’s Head of Broadcast, commented, “From the very beginning we knew we were collaborating with a team of people who shared our vision to innovate within a very traditional space in rugby broadcasting. We are incredibly proud of our new brand and thanks to AE Live we can see the personality of the URC living and breathing on our broadcasts every week while our work at integrating new live data APIs will help demystify the game for fans.”
